April 2014 – At the 2014 NAB show in Las Vegas, Digital Nirvana was showing there latest hardware and service offering. Their two highlights for new products were MediaPro and FIFOPro. MediaPro is a content repurposing system and FIFOPro is a new tapeless ingest backup system

Since 1996, Digital Nirvana has focused on the data and voice recording and playout marketplace. The value proposition for this market has expanded from simple broadcast support to a need to provide VOD, OTT and second screen control for internet based console, tablets and mobile devices. The core hardware in their solution is the OpenMedia Appliance which is a rack mount plug in oriented chassis device that accepts a wide range of inputs including SD/HD SDI, ASI, ASI-IP, ATSC and QAM content in multiple formants that include 50 Hz, 60 Hz and DVB - T/C/S2 . The NAS connectable storage device supports a cable card technology that can records from encrypted cable feeds in SD to full HD; which allows for direct cable and off-air antenna recording. The device has a software control that allows for expansion up to 100 channels.

Digital Nirvana Media Monitoring

Applications that load on the device include their Monitor IQ product that monitors a broadcast traditional video feeds for signal and loudness monitoring, compliance logging, quality control, competitive analysis, alerting, alarming and proof of advertising. They also have their new AnyStream IQ product that is a cloud based solution for second screen and OTT/VOD applications which performs similar monitoring.

New to the product line is the MediaPro application. This function runs on their core Open Media Appliance and is designed for the repurposing of the content from the original broadcast to social media sites and the cloud. It is designed to convert all the input formats of the appliance to being export media in Flash, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264 and XDCAM. These outputs are compatible with most standard editing flows and compatible with all standards-compliant web browsers without the need to install ActiveX. This allows all the hot content to be available for IPTV, OTT and VOD application streams while simultaneously transcoding to the required lower resolutions of site like Facebook, Twitter and Linkin.

The last new product is FIFOPro. Using the same appliance this product provides a tapeless ingest backup flow. Designed for hot storage (usable within 72 hrs) it uses the Open Media Appliance and supports a no-tape, First In First Out recording of multiple HD-SDI feeds and stores them in an AVCi 50 edit ready format for up to 72 hrs. This simplifies the workflow by eliminating the need to label, catalog, and store back-up tapes in order to work with fresh content.

All of these products are currently available.
